High on Kathryn’s list of op shop source books to mine for collage is a strange and beautiful dance photography book from the 70s, from which this series is crafted. Shot on high-contrast film during live performances that would go on to become legendary, the photographs shimmer on the edge of blur, the precise geometry of choreographed limbs slightly softened by the movement about to be. Each photographic element in this suite is sliced from just this one single source, with the manipulation coming from rearrangement and relocation and rotation, such that the overlap and juxtaposition of moving bodies is subtly kinked into impossible angles
