discrete and ongoing practices to navigate ecological destruction, grief, resilience, and activism. these works are site-responsive, exploring the science, mythologies and politics of species loss and sites of ecological/colonial occupation. 

Kathryn was an artist-in-residence at Bundanon, on the lands of the Dharawal and Dhurga people, in 2025.

 
In September and October Kathryn returned to develop on work begun in her first residency in April and May, 2025. 

Her arts/research project - Nocturnal kinship: Bird to bird - investigates intersections between personal and ecological grief through the figure of the Powerful Owl.

A durational project taking various incarnations over 6 years pairing birds with gentle human hand perches. 

Beginning during lockdown in 2020, this project developed over time, it developed into an international mail art project, and eventually took the form of this chiffon piece which 'returned' local birds to the environs of Woollahra Gallery.
