the ninth in a sequence of environmentally responsive actions undertaken at Redleaf beach in Sydney's east over the course of a 4 month residency. For this action, The palette of materials had been developed through the studio practice - gold metallic and charcoal were key elements. The studio was underneath the Port Jackson Fig tree. The tree grows from the private, walled-off garden of Fairview and reaches out onto the public beach, its branches making ephemeral drawings in the sand. 

method/practice/medium: Wind, endemic fig, Stick charcoal, gold thread, handmade paper, seawater

process/score: Fasten a stick of charcoal to a low-hanging branch of the fig tree. Brush seawater onto the paper and allow the tree to draw on the paper as it is moved in the wind.
