action 8: patching and tearing
the eighth in a sequence of environmentally responsive actions undertaken at Redleaf beach in Sydney's east over the course of
a 4 month residency. This action utilises expanding packing paper for the protection of fragile things. As a disposable packing material, it’s a stand-in for all the single-use disposables impacting on the health of the harbour. It’s also a material that, like the fence, has a chain link structure that is revealed when it is stretched. The cast shadow of both materials is similar but it is simultaneously a strong and a flimsy barrier. Once torn it cannot be repaired.
